Abandoned Accounts | If your account has had no activity in the last year and you have not contacted the credit union, your account becomes dormant. After three years of dormancy, your account becomes abandoned, and the funds in the account will be sent to the State Comptroller by June 25, 2024. Click here for more details.
Holiday Closing | We will be closed on Friday, March 29th, and Saturday, March 30th, in observance of Good Friday and Easter.
We take pride in our community involvement and our support of various charities. We believe that we are making a difference, and it’s all thanks to our awesome team and loyal members.

American Cancer Society:

Since the year 2008, 5Point Credit Union has donated over $1.8 million to the American Cancer Society, and we're not stopping there! There are numerous ways 5Point Credit Union directly supports the American Cancer Society; this can be seen by participating in local Relay for Life events, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events, donating bimonthly through our Jeans for a Cure program, and our loan promotion participation. We have held numerous titles during our time supporting the American Cancer Society, such as the Top Performing Team at our Relay for Life local event starting in the year 2014, the Number One Team in the Nation for the year 2016, and the Number Four Team in the Nation for the year 2022.

5Point Credit Union Hope to Cure Grant

Part of our 2017 American Cancer Society contribution went to the funding of a research grant. Here's a summary of the research being done with the 5Point Credit Union Hope to Cure Grant:

"In the same way the immune system fights infections, it is able to recognize and attack cancer.  Tumors, unfortunately find ways of preventing immune cell attack and one way is by expressing the protein, PD-L1, a 'stop sign' for immune cells.  PD-L1 does this by binding to another protein on immune cells, called PD-1, which causes the immune cell to get tired, and die. One way to treat cancer is to prevent PD-L1 from binding PD-1 and there have recently been drugs approved by the FDA to do so.  Unfortunately, these drugs have one major unwanted side effect called autoimmunity, where your immune system attacks, normal healthy tissue.  As a result, we need to find drugs that promote tumor attack while minimizing off-target effects and autoimmunity.

Our lab is interested in the way genes, the starting material for proteins, are regulated.  One area of PD-L1 research that is not very well-investigated are the genes that regulate it.  Therefore, the goal of this proposal is to identify which genes cause PD-L1 to be expressed on cancer.  By doing so, we could find drugs to inhibit these genes, and therefore reduce PD-L1, allowing for the immune system to attack tumors but not necessarily normal tissue.  The experiments here will identify new ways to treat cancer by 're-teaching' the immune system to attack tumors and can potentially revolutionize cancer treatment regimens."

C.A.R.E. (Community Action For Responsible Employees) Fund:

Since the C.A.R.E. Fund began in 2004, 5Point employees have collected over $90,000 for local charities. 5Point employees donate money out of every paycheck to two organizations throughout the year. They also recycle aluminum cans to earn money for the fund. All donations are matched by 5Point and given to the organizations at a check presentation event hosted by the credit union. See all C.A.R.E. Fund donations below.

Ronald McDonald House:

Can tabs are collected year-round at every 5Point location, and are given to Ronald McDonald House for recycling. The money goes toward helping families with sick children stay near treatment facilities at no cost.

Scholarships:

5Point presents twelve $1,000 scholarships to select high school seniors each year. The scholarship recipients are members of the credit union who exemplify 5Point values in their academics, leadership, and community involvement.

ToyFeast:

Each holiday season, 5Point is honored to partner with KFDM News and the Salvation Army to spread holiday cheer to children in need. We collect toys during the month of November and donate them to families who may not otherwise be able to provide gifts for their children.

Financial Education:

In 2009, we decided to make a commitment to providing financial education to the communities we serve.  Fast forward nearly a decade our Financial Education department has delivered thousands of presentations and changed countless lives in the process.  In 2017, 5Point received the Desjardin Award for financial education not once but twice.  We received first place in the state of Texas and second place in the nation.  We also introduced our Scholar Dollars program to our North Houston market, bringing quality financial education to Conroe and Magnolia ISD.

5Point also supports the community through:

Our sponsorship of Lamar University Athletics, participating in various charitable walks, runs, and relays, and contributing to and participating in numerous community events throughout the year.

In 2017, 5Point participated in YMCA Operation Backpack and Senior Open House, Movie Night at the Nederland pool, National Night Out in Groves, Chick-fil-A community events, Montgomery County Fair, Magnolia Education Foundation Golf, Montgomery County Heart Walk, The Woodlands Township Ice Rink, Nederland Heritage Festival, Christmas Parades, and MDA Passport for a Cure Gala.
